Clan 4-1 Stingrays, Ladislav Benysek signs

Braehead Clan beat Hull Stingrays last night 4-1 with goals from Hanson, Farmer and Goldie, Krestanovich getting the ENG in the closing minute. A comprehensive win for Clan although a shaky and perhaps chaotic (?) 2nd period from clan with many stramashes in front of their crease could have cost them. The SOG Clan 35 – Stingrays 32 does not quite reflect the amount of posession Clan had during the game.

Much better cohesion from the team overall, different formation on the PK was effective as was the D overall plus some good variation on the offence too. Promising stuff and coach Gardner has obviously had a quiet word…

The win saw Clan move back to topof the Gardiner Conference and back to 6th in the EIHL standings.

Very disappointing crowd of 1217 attended, even given it was a midweek game/wee bit snow/previous loss….hmmm where did the diehards go? Lowest crowd since November 2011. Just shows how fickle fans can be?

Tuesday saw the club announce the signing of big, ex-nhl D man Ladislav Benysek. Good signing, the guy may be 38 years old next month but we need experience at the back and he has it in abundance. Low points accumulation indicates a stay at home Dman as opposed to offensive Dman so that pleases me!

Saturday sees a trip to table topping Nottingham Panthers in Clan’s only game of the weekend. Tough one that, to be honest a 1 goal loss would be great but I still trust in the Gardner Effect and will put my customary fiver on clan to win 😉
