GB Olympic Ice Hockey Dream comes to an end

So the GB Olympic Ice Hockey dream came to an abrupt end today with a 6-2 loss to France.

This is not a typical British Glorious Failure, it is a story of a team who had already progressed further than they probably should have in the end did not disgrace themselves in any way. Indeed every man jack of them should be proud of their strength and commitment.

The goals lost were largely on powerplay, indicating that during 5 on 5 play they more than held their own. No mean feat against the likes of Latvia and France who have an abundance of homegrown class players who play at a higher level than the EIHL or ENL, the leagues where Team GB players compete week in week out.

Well done Tony Hand and the team on getting as far as you did to make us all proud to be brits and….a wee win against the Kazaks would be nice on Sunday as a consolation!
