Belfast Giants 2 – 6 Braehead Clan was probably not the result many predicted, except perhaps the other way around, as the *Paulrus Effect* continues.
Despite no changes in personnel since Paul Gardner took over as coach, this is a completely different looking Braehead Clan. Confident on the puck, defending as a team, short handed goals, players screening the goalie, more physical, better power plays, the list goes on. Stunning really, the way he has turned the team around and long may it continue!
It was not just the valuable two points earned which raised Clan back up to 6th place in the league but the manner of the victory, Clan simply did not allow Giants into the game bar a few minutes in the third period which shows how far they have come in such a short time.
Tonight saw Hull Stingrays visit Fife Flyers and come away with the 2 points in regulation with a comprehensive 5-2 win. As far as the Gardiner Conference is concerned, this is the result Clan needed to strengthen their position at the top.
Tomorrow night sees Clan visit the in-form Dundee Stars, never easy to beat in their own barn, this is potentially a stiffer test than last night at the Odyssey Arena. Seems strange to say that you think? Nope, just have a look at how close the Gardiner Conference is! Currently any one of Clan, Stars and Flyers could win it so all to play for tomorrow night in Dundee!!
